DAY 10
HELSINKI-MUMBAI (FINLAND-INDIA)
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel. Helsinki, the capital of Finland.
For much of the 20th century, Finland was the least visible
of the Scandinavian countries, Sweden had ABBA, Norway had all
those lovely Fjords, but Finland stirred few notions in the
average traveller's mind. With the rise of mobile communications
and the internet, though, Finland has hit the world stage; companies
such as Nokia are exploring areas of communications that were
once imagined only in science fiction. As the techno wave breaks
into the 21st century Finland appears set to play an important
role in the way the future is mapped out. In contrast to this
hi-tech revolution, Finland is for the most part a land of quietness,
where a ramshackle cottage by a lake and a properly stoked sauna
is all that's required for happiness. Finland is a vast expanse
of forests and lakes and more forests, punctuated by towns full
of people genuinely surprised to find tourists visiting them.
It's a country waiting to be discovered, which is an attraction
in itself. Sophisticated Helsinki is deservedly becoming a popular
travel destination. Morning free for personal activities and
shopping. Check out of the hotel at 12 noon. Enjoy lunch at
Indian restaurant. And then board your coach for the city tour
of Helsinki including visit the temple church naturally built
in a rock and with excellent acoustics, the Senate Square and
Cathedral, Uspenski Cathedral with cupolas and design that clearly
shows the Russian impact on Finland. City sightseeing including
Market Square, Rock Church, Helsinki Cathedral, Uspenski Cathedral,
Sibelius monument and park, walk in the Espalanadi. Later proceed
to the airport to board your Finnair flight departing Helsinki
at 2000 hrs for Mumbai.
Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner on board the flight. |
